1. Watch scene from Far From Heaven (21:30-25:30) and identify these techniques:
dissolve, tilt, pan, and dutch angle. Review and identify sound techniques
(diegetic, non-diegetic and internal diegetic).
2. View the opening scene of Apocalypse Now and take
notes and discuss film techniques in this clip
3. Introduction to The Outsiders: As a class, read the Dear Reader pages and then read
the first 3 pages out loud.
4. In your notebooks, skip a page
(leaving room to finish the Liberty!
video notes) and begin a new page titled “The
Outsiders character and conflicts lists, September 22, 2017.” Create a three column chart that looks like
the chart below:

reading and taking notes. Read at least to the end of chapter 2 (page 36)
HOMEWORK: Continue reading your independent novel. You should finish reading it by Wednesday, Oct. 4.
